Vocalist

Curtis is an international Rhythm and Blues vocalist out of Westchester county New York, who started out in the entertainment business as a mobile DJ in 1981. He started singing professionally in 1985 after being encouraged by a friend to join a band after singing in front of them at a company Christmas party. He continued his DJ’ing, but the stage is where Curtis shines. He is a natural born performer with a 10,000 kilowatt smile and a presence you just can’t deny.

His influences include Ray Charles, Otis Redding, Marvin Gaye, Nat “King” Cole and Stevie Wonder. Perhaps the most significant influence – and Curtis’ idol – is Robert Cray. Curtis was a founding member of local Westchester blues band “Blues Depot” performing across the tri state area in the 1990’s and 2000’s.

Curtis has freelanced over the years and has lent his front man/lead singer abilities to several local bands. From 2006 to 2015 he was been the main vocalist for Grammy Nominated guitarist Gil Parris and his band, performing regularly around the region. Curtis was the singer when the Gil Parris Band opened for the legendary “King of the Blues”, B.B. King in 2009 at the Paramount Center for the Arts in Peekskill. Together with Gil, Curtis has run a successful Musician’s Jam on Wednesday nights first at Ron Blacks Beer Hall in White Plains, NY since 2006. This high octane jam draws local artists as well as celebrities such as Bernie Williams and once even LL Cool J.

In 2008, Curtis began production on his solo CD, “Do the Natural Thing” produced by Stoopid Daddy Records. It was a labor of love and was released in October of 2011. One song on the album, in particular, is close to Curtis’ heart. “Carry On” – co-written by Curtis and Stoopid Daddy Records founder, Scott Staton – is a tribute to his long-time friend, Steven Scenna, who passed away from Melanoma in 2009.

In April of 2012, Curtis made his international debut with two performances in France at La Seguiniere in La Gaude near Nice, France. Backed up by local musicians from “Les Six Jazz Potes”, Curtis performed songs from “Do the Natural Thing” along with fan favorites by his early influences. The French crowd adores Curtis and he has been invited back to this venue and others any time he visits the area.

Curtis is currently performing in the tri-state area with the following projects:

In addition, Curtis (along with his wife, Lotte) runs a successful entertainment company, Alert Music Company, which provides bands, DJ’s, sound and event management.

Curtis is a versatile vocalist who enjoys and masters many different genres – R&B and Soul to Rock… Nat and Ray to Jason Mraz. There’s never a dull moment when Curtis is in the room.
